Wesley has big dreams

isaiah
Dear Bill and Colleen, Ron, Molly, Michael, Matt & Alison, Lesley, Starbucks, and Kandace,

Wesley is an outgoing fifth-grade student who has a passion for singing and dancing. He someday wants to be a professional performer. When Wesley first started coming to TEAM-WORKS Academy, he was reluctant to share his dreams with other students because they would make fun of him. As he continued with the TEAM-WORKS program and learned the value of self-worth, Wesley gained confidence in himself and in his dreams. He began sharing his dreams with other students and even wrote out a personal pledge so he will constantly be reminded: “I will always know what I want deep in my heart.” Wesley has learned to showcase his confidence and to stand up for himself and the goals he has for his life.

Wesley refers to the TEAM-WORKS Academy mentors as his friends. As a result of your generosity, Wesley will continue to stand firm in his path as he leaves his legacy on this world.

Thank you all for your kindness!

Jordyn gets a year of tutoring

JORDYN on the BRINK
Dear Kandace, Joe and Karen, Bill and Colleen, Chris and Emily, James, James and Julie, Jeffrey, Peter and Kim, Kathleen, William, dawn, and Microsoft,

Jordyn is a spunky fourth grader with attitude. Her attitude can be strength at times, but can also be a hindrance in her relationships with others. Though she puts out a tough girl exterior, Jordyn also has a softer side. She struggles with behavioral issues and sometimes uses poor language toward others, but since she has been attending TEAM-WORKS her attitude and use of language have greatly improved.

Because of your generous donation, Jordyn will continue to receive the help of mentors who can teach her the importance of having strong character. Your donation will also allow Jordyn to be in safe environment where she can show her softer side.

Thanks for helping to pave Jordyn’s road to being a great example to others and leading with a strong character!

Nate has improved immensely in his character throughout his time with the Mack Strong TEAM-WORKS

shortcut to nathanial
Dear Kim, Allison, Shreeya, Lori, and Anonymous,

Nate has improved immensely in his character throughout his time with the Mack Strong TEAM-WORKS Academy in Tulalip, WA. He is an outgoing guy, and when he first started attending our after school program he didn’t really have a proper outlet for his energy.  Nate used to constantly be making fun of others and talking out during group discussions.  Because of our character lessons, he has been able to learn about how to be respectful and treat others with kindness.  Nate has built strong friendships with the TEAM-WORKS staff and volunteers and he has matured a lot during his time at our after school program.  He also had a chance to display his amazing artistic abilities during a TEAM-WORKS contest to see who could create the best Martin Luther King, Jr. art project.  Nate took the project very seriously and was able to show how much he has improved in his focus and his attitude by creating an incredible drawing of Dr. King.

Because of your generous donation Nate will be able to continue to receive the help and attention that he needs in order to continue to grow his character skills.

Thank you for your support and your donation!

Raemo has become an Excellent Role Model and Leader

Raemo Sylvester 2011
Dear UBS, Bill, Amy, Dana, Rob, Steve, Beverly, Sarah, Brooke & Nick, Jennifer, and Emily,

Raemo is in 8th grade and started attending TEAM-WORKS Academy, because he was struggling in his classes. He began the program feeling like it was a form of punishment by his teacher to have to get extra help. Soon, he realized that TEAM-WORKS was more than just a tutoring program.

Raemo has made a lot of great relationships during his time at the academy. Many of the other students, have begun to look up to Raemo because he is friendly, hard working, and loves to participate. As a result, he has become an excellent role model and leader to the rest of the students in the Academy. Raemo lets everyone feel comfortable in being themselves, by being friendly to everyone and by being his true self.  During character lessons, Raemo always has a lot to add to the discussions, and he brings many bright ideas to the table which also helps the other students.

Raemo has grown so much since his first day at TEAM-WORKS Academy. He has really taken advantage of the program, by participating, contributing, and working hard. Raemo does everything with a smile on his face and brings a lot of energy to the club each day. Because of your thoughtful donations that we appreciate so much, Raemo is in a safe environment after school adding to his knowledge and growth each day.

neveah pic Rotary
Dear Octavia, Emerald, Byron, Mike, Heather, Laura, Robert, Nikki, Lisa, Lisa, Michael, Kate, Brian, Denise, and Amy,

Neveah joined TEAM-WORKS Academy because she likes the art and character program. Her interest in art and her outgoing personality make it easy for the staff to get to know her. She is not a fan of most sports or P.E. time, however she is working on participating in these activities more.

Neveah’s priority is enjoying her many relationships, two of which have become best friends, Savannah and Mya, who she just met at the beginning of the summer. TEAM-WORKS Academy allows Neveah an outlet to talk about her feelings and how things are going in her life with a staff that listens patiently and mentors gently.

Because of your donation Neveah will continue to have the opportunity to connect with mentors, grow in her character and learn how to live a more healthy lifestyle.

Keith shows growth in leadership skills!

tulalip12[1]
Dear Hoyt and Donita,

During the time Keith has attended TEAM-WORKS Academy, he has shown improvements in many aspects of life.  He is an athlete committed to sports, and also makes time to come to the TEAM-WORKS after school program in Tulalip to improve his grades and get help with homework.

When Keith first started coming to TEAM-WORKS he was shy and very easily distracted from completing schoolwork.  Over time, he has become much more confident and has learned to work independently when needed.  Keith has also shown improvements in his leadership skills because of the mentoring he has received at TEAM-WORKS.

Thanks to your generous donation, Keith is continuing to become more and more confident in himself and his academic and personal skills.  He would not have been able to afford this program without your support. Keith is becoming more fluent in reading skills and will continue to improve in this area because of the one on one attention he receives at TEAM-WORKS Academy.

Thank you so much Hoyt and Donita for your donation that will allow Keith to continue on his path to becoming a great leader in and out of the classroom!

Alen becomes a man of integrity!

Alen Sylvester
Dear Brian, Dennis, Pradeep, Jeffrey, Kandace, Rick and Beth, and The Butson,

Alen first started coming to TEAM-WORKS Academy only a few months ago, but has already shown significant improvement in his drive and self-esteem. He has high hopes of becoming a doctor and TEAM-WORKS Academy has helped him set goals in order to make this dream become a reality. Alen also better appreciates the importance of studying hard to earn good grades and has learned the importance of having integrity and setting a good example for others.
Alen has taken an active role in the Strong Character lessons and has become a leader among his peers. He sets an example on how to respect his peers and his elders. When Alen is part of a team, he gives his fellow team members encouragement with the task at hand. He is not afraid to be the first student to speak up when a general question is posed to the group and Alen has developed some really great insights into what having a strong character means, which he expresses to his peers and mentors.

Thanks to your generosity, Alen will continue to develop the essential character skills that will make him a great and personable doctor with high integrity. Thank you for supporting Alen!

Shelly has shown great improvement at TEAM-WORKS!

shelly2
Dear Jerry, Henry, Bess, and George,

Shelly has shown great improvement during her time at TEAM-WORKS Academy’s after school program in Washington State. When she first started coming to TEAM-WORKS, our staff could tell she was a very bright and kind young girl.  Shelly comes from a loving family and she does a great job of looking after her younger brother after school.

TEAM-WORKS Academy has been able to provide a safe place for Shelly to come and focus on herself, getting her homework done, having a short workout, and listening to a character lesson. It is clear to our staff and volunteers that Shelly enjoys the time away from her other responsibilities, and that she is gaining a lot by having time to get help with her homework.

One of the main things we appreciate about Shelly is the positive example that she sets for the other kids in the way that she treats people. Shelly really enjoyed our field trip to the Seattle Aquarium. She has been growing in her academics as well as her physical fitness.

Because of your generous donation, Shelly can continue on her path to success and continue to have a positive place to spend time after school.

Luxuria Has Gained Confidence in Herself and Her Abilities

Luxuria Gains Confidence
Dear Laurent, Don, Kandace, Michael, Sarah, Ted and Pam, Rao, Pradeep, Michael, and Trish,

Luxuria has been attending TEAM-WORKS since the beginning of this school year. When Luxuria first came to TEAM-WORKS, she was really withdrawn and hid behind a thick coat of make-up and black lipstick. With the help of the Strong Character curriculum, Luxuria was able to come out of her shell, little by little, as she gained confidence in herself and what she had to say. With the help of TEAM-WORKS staff, Luxuria was able to state her dreams and set goals for her future.

Several weeks into the program, Luxuria became an active participant in the character lessons, and she is no longer as hesitant to participate in the Strong Body part of the curriculum. The self-confidence she has gained in herself is very apparent in the way she interacts with her peers and with staff members. She now enters the room with an un-lipsticked smile and greets us with a wave. Luxuria had the following to say about the TEAM-WORKS program: “TEAM-WORKS can be helpful with the homework support, encouragement, and keeping you on the right track on being one of the TEAM-WORKS members.”

As a result of your generosity, Luxuria will have a chance at continued growth and success.
